Cost, money, shipping, materials...the things we have to pay for. Let's get this conversation out of the way. As a professional quilter and person that makes pre-pieced blocks and tops, I hear this statement quite often. "I can do that cheaper.” I try to never be snarky with anyone, but at times I want to retort with, "Yeah, I bet you can.” So for the sake of being kind, I thought I'd offer a quick and simple breakdown. I won't make it long or boring. I consider it to be a teaching moment. A queen sized quilt measures on the average of 90 x 108, a little more or a little less. The quilt top (not quilted) shown below costs about $175 when you purchase it from Quilter's Imagination. A quilt top of this size takes about 7.5 yards of fabric to make. Quilt shop quality fabrics run anywhere from $9 to $12 per yard on average. You are already close to half of the cost we charge. This doesn’t count the amount of time you have to spend picking out the variety of fabrics you need. You will also need a ruler, cutting mat, thread, and rotary cutter. You may want to just try scissors, but I don't recommend it. LOL

Welcome! I'm hoping that my blog can take on the personality of an old-fashioned quilting bee. A place where quilters can share. Through my experiences, and through yours, I hope we can create an environment of encouragement, support and plenty of new ideas. Quilter's Imaginatioin started out as a hobby that I shared with my mom. One day, on a whim, I had made some Jewel Box quilt blocks and wondered if anyone would buy pre-pieced quilt blocks. I listed them on an auction site and sure enough, they sold right away. I made another set, and another set and they just kept selling. I was pretty excited and figured I may have found a way to fund our hobby! At that time we were avid hand quilters. No machine quilting for us! Well, to say the least, we no longer had time to devote to hand quilting and sew as much as we wanted. That's when I stumbled onto a video of the "magic" longarm quilting machine. I had mom watch the video and when it ended she said, "we need one of those." LOL Having never seen or operated one, I began researching. Most expensive whim I ever had!! I ordered my first Tin Lizzie, it came, mom and I sat it up (took us three days), and I quilted my fist quilt. This was our Quilter's Imagination at work. We never looked back and we still love it today. We do have a different machine now, but more on that later. We are still just a mom and daughter loving what we do. We specialize in longarm quilting and pre-pieced quilting items such as blocks, tops, table toppers and wall hangings. Professional longarm quilting is currently a two week turn around time. Even if you're not shopping take a look at what we offer. You never know, you may find a great idea. Take a minute and leave me a comment below, a subject you would like to talk about, or even a picture of your current project(s). I hope you'll stick with me, because you are part of what I imagined. Hugs. 🤗
